As a CTIA Authorized Testing Lab (CATL), we offer third-party product testing and certification for Over-the-Air (OTA) wireless device performance and battery operation, reliability and safety
Intertek’s CTIA Authorized Testing Lab (CATL) is equipped with the right equipment to verify conformance of wireless devices, using LTE, CDMA, UMTS (WCDMA), GSM, converged Wi-Fi and 802.11 air-interface technologies, to defined industry requirements. In addition, Intertek can provide clients with pre-compliance testing before submitting products for CTIA certification. This helps to safeguard against lengthy delays and potential redesigns in the future.
What is a CTIA Authorized Testing Lab (CATL), and how can a CATL benefit you?
In 2002, the CTIA refined its certification program, making it more appealing to manufacturers seeking the CTIA Certification Seal on cellular products. Most notably, the CTIA removed itself as the intermediary in the product testing and certification cycle. Now, products are delivered directly to CTIA authorized testing laboratories, such as Intertek, for evaluation. Providing a direct channel between manufacturers and their testing organization helps to quicken the certification process for the program's voluntary participants.
Authorized testing labs (CATLs) must pass a rigorous review and evaluation, conducted by the CTIA, in order to be granted the authority to conduct testing. CATLs are evaluated according to their specific testing capability and the association’s certification program. For more information, visit the CTIA web site to learn more.
The benefits of CTIA OTA certification include:
- Providing assurance to wireless network operators that devices being certified meet minimum performance requirements defined by the industry;
- Speeding time-to-market for new wireless devices by providing vendors with industry-wide common baseline performance requirements to which new devices can be tested.
CTIA OTA Certification Testing
We use state-of-the-art testing equipment including two R&S TS8991 equipment racks and two fully anechoic chambers to perform CTIA accredited OTA testing services including total radiated power (TRP), total isotropic sensitivity (TIS), and assisted global navigation satellite system (A-GNSS) testing. In addition, we perform CTIA CWG approved TRP, TIS, and Desensitization testing of converged Wi-Fi and 802.11 technologies on cellular devices.
Online Access
CTIA OTA testing services utilize Intertek’s Information and Communication Nexus (ICON) for online access. Upon ICON account creation and authentication, customers have Internet web-based access to test data and results for their projects.
CTIA Battery Certification for Wireless and Computer Devices
We offer full scope CTIA accredited battery testing services for both IEEE 1725 and IEEE 1625.
